If you are familiar with ritual, you know the power of possibility that lies within the most simple acts that take us beyond the mind and into a greater sense of presence, wholeness, and wonder. If you are not familiar with ritual or the thought seems a bit esoteric, distant, or even out-of-alignment, you are still in the right place.
Rituals are a way for us to shift out of the patterns we are used to and shift into our inner wisdom; bringing a deeper sense of presence and healing into our lives.
Oracle cards have been used for divination, deep personal reflection, and self-transformation since their appearance in the mid-1800s as an alternative to Tarot.
Oracle readings shine light on what is true, what is resonant, and what is most alive within us. When we turn to the cards, day after day, we meet our shadow, our light, our highest selves, and our solutionary mind.
Oracle decks frame what's already present for us in a way that makes life easier to understand, to digest, to transmute.
We've spoken recently about how vital our shadow work practices are in these times, to restore balance amidst the chaos. We believe curating a daily oracle practice is another luminous lifeline as we face the collective shadow.
Rather than turning to our oracle decks on occasion, for guidance or reflection here and there… cultivating a daily oracle card practice centers us in our devotion to our spiritual path and self-development journey.
A powerful wise woman Lunaea Weatherstone once said that we transform the mundane into the magical with intention and attention. When we elevate our self-care practices out of the mundane realm, and into spiritual devotion, we open the way for deeper inner alchemy.
Building Your Daily Oracle Card Practice
The beautiful thing about cultivating a personal practice is that you get to make it your own, and there are a few building blocks that can help you support a lasting and nourishing connection with your chosen oracle deck.
First, consider weaving with the five elements in your practice: Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. The options for working with each element are truly limitless! We'll list a few ideas for each.
Earth: Physical Plane, Groundedness, & Presence
To honor the Earth element in your practice, you could…
- find a beautiful spot in nature to do your daily card pulls
- rest your favorite crystal atop your cards each day
- eat a nourishing meal before you pull your card(s)
- do a grounding meditation before you begin
Air: Thoughts, Communication, & Movement
To honor the Air element in your practice, you could…
- dance to your favorite song as a way to open the space
- burn your favorite incense and witness the smoke rising
- speak your intentions for this reading aloud
- sing or chant, opening the channel of your voice
Fire: Action, Inspiration, & Creation
To honor the Fire element in your practice, you could…
- light a candle each day
- drink a hot tea
- list the aligned actions you took in the last 24 hours
- go outside and receive warmth from the sun
Water: Flow, Emotions, & Wisdom
To honor the Water element in your practice, you could…
- ask a glass of water to carry the healing frequency of this reading
- consciously hydrate before, during, and after your practice
- spritz rose water on and around yourself before your reading
- check in with and honor the waters of your being and emotions
Spirit: Connection to the All
Connecting with this element is simple – your oracle card practice honors this element innately. To amplify this, you can call in a connection with something-greater-than-self (guides, angels, The Divine, God, The Universe, Love, etc.).
Choosing Your Deck
Once you decide on the elemental foundations of your practice, it's time to choose your deck. You may decide to work with a few different decks as they inspire and entice you, or focus your energy and attention on one deck that you'd like to grow with. Either way, you can consider the following questions as you choose:
- Which deck best aligns with the wisdom I wish to receive?
- When I look at the art of the deck, what is evoked within me?
- Can I envision myself developing a daily practice and active relationship with this deck?
As you may know, we have created two oracle decks, in both in mini and full-size options: Wisdom of the Shadow Oracle and Wisdom of the Divine Feminine Oracle, and you may want to keep your eyes on this space – we have very exciting announcements coming soon ;)
Selecting Your Spread
Finally, all that's left to decide is what spread you would like to commit to each day. Our favorite daily ritual is simply pulling one single card (ideas below).
We recommend landing on one spread that you will do each day, and if you feel called to, you can always pull more cards or work with a second spread if that's what is resonating for you that day. Choosing a simple, easily repeatable spread as a baseline for each day gives you a solid foundation to develop your practice without requiring super-in-depth readings every single day.
We recommend choosing one of the following spreads from the Wisdom of the Divine Feminine Oracle:
1. Heart of the Matter
This is a single-card reading to receive direct wisdom, right from the infinite and yourself.
- Hold the deck, allow your eyes to close, center yourself, and receive a deep breath. Notice any intentions, feelings, or questions that rise up into your heart center.
- Shuffle the cards as you wish.
- Sense which card is calling itself forward or wait for a card to fall out. Trust that there is no wrong way.
- Reveal the card, gaze into the image, and notice what arises in your heart upon first instinct. Turn to the guidebook or your journal – sit with the essence of the card you chose.
- If you are seeking more insight, you may pull additional cards for clarity or sit with the card for some time until the heart wisdom becomes clear within.
2. Co-Creation
This is a two-card reading that builds off of the Heart of the Matter spread.
When two or more energies come together, they amplify each other exponentially and allow for deeper wisdom than any one energy alone. Invite two energies to co-create magical swirlings in your heart to inspire deeper layers of wisdom, embodiment, and integration of the essences presented in the Heart of the Matter card.
- Follow the steps for the Heart of the Matter above. The Heart of the Matter represents the essence to focus on.
- Consider the following questions, then shuffle the cards again and draw a second card in the same way: What else is important to know about the energy presented in the Heart of the Matter card? How can I differently see the Heart of the Matter?
- Reveal the card, gaze into the image, and notice what arises in your heart upon first instinct. Turn to the guidebook or your journal – sit with the essence of the card you chose. Consider the following: What wisdom can I glean from the Heart of the Matter card by leaning into the energies of the Co-Creation card? How can the Co-Creation card offer a new perspective?
We hope that this wisdom nourishes your journey into Truth.
